Cullman Lady Bearcats endure 1st loss of new hoops season:

Hewitt Trussville is the first opponent to defeat the Cullman Lady Bearcats in Tammy West's first season with the 6A program.
Cullman entered Wednesday with a 7 & 0 start for the West era and had Encore Classic comeback wins against Madison Academy 38 to 36 Monday and 62 to 54 over Susan Moore Tuesday.
Meeting a Hewitt squad that had claimed a victory on Monday vs. classic host Hartselle, this game was off to a flying start for Cullman was using the scoring from near the basket by center Molly Wilson and Hewitt hit 6 FGs in the 1st, scoring twice from 3 point range.
The hot shooting stayed with Hewitt in the 2nd and it eluded Cullman. Hewitt went on scoring 9 FGs in this period while the Cullman tally was 3 made in the paint from Wilson.

 A 20 to 9 run gave Hewitt a 38 to 26 lead at the half.
The double digit by the Lady Huskies maintained through the final half of play.
For the game, Hewitt hit 26 FGs while Cullman scored 25. The difference was behind the circle as Hewitt made 7 to one for the Lady 'Cats.
A 21 to 3 edge in three point scoring allowed Hewitt to return to Jefferson County 4 & 1 on the season and drop Cullman to 7 & 1.
Wilson was dazzling in her scoring with Hewitt unable to slow her down. The junior had 27 on 11 FGs and 5 of 8 at the FT line.
Her frontline teammate, Rachel Hoffman, would get 19, 12 in the 2nd half. Hoffman was sharp with 8 close range baskets and three of four from the stripe.
Molly Dorough got 6, Katherine Ugarkovich scored 2 and the only 3 came from Mckinley Varden in the 4th period.
