Cullman SB prevails in area opener vs. Jasper:

A quick start and good finish carries the Lady 'Cats by their arch rival:

GDW Analysis:
Cullman softball carried out its 6A Area 13 assignment Tuesday at home in fine fashion for a 6 to 1 victory over the Jasper Lady Vikings.
The lead went on Cullman's side of the scoreboard from the 1st inning and never eluded them.

Getting a pair of 2 run home runs by the end of the 3rd was enough for pitcher Kyneli Storey to go the distance and pitch well in front of Gameday Weekly.
Storey yielded a solo home run in the 3rd then finished with 4 consecutive scoreless innings.
The junior would give up 1 run on 7 hits with 0 walks and 6 strikeouts.
At one point in the late moments of the game, Storey retired 5 consecutive Jasper hitters.
She got out of an issue in the 7th when the Lady Vikings had a single and a double with 1 out. A strikeout would follow and the final out was a fly ball into right center.
Cullman put 2 on the board in its side of the 1st as Abby Maples led off with a double and would come in on Dracen Bates' homer over the left field fence.
In the Cullman 3rd, a walk to Hattie Graham began the frame and Samantha Johnson sent the ball over the fence for a 2 run deal and a 4 to 1 lead.
The Cullman 4th was again successful starting with a walk to Haylee Little. Little got into scoring position on a ground out by Ally Johnson.
She raced home with the 5th run for Cullman when Maples singled up the middle with 1 out.
A 6th run was sent in for insurance in the Cullman 6th.
Little was issued a walk, Ally Johnson sacrificed her to 2nd with a bunt and Maples drove her in on a single and a 6 to 1 advantage.
Cullman took advantage of control problems from three Jasper pitchers. They would walk half a dozen Lady 'Cats, Little getting aboard three times.
Little would come in and score twice with the other runner entering home being Graham in front of Sam Johnson's third inning blast.
The game was played in 1 hour, 37 minutes ending at 6:02 p.m.
Cullman is 13 & 2 for the season with new coach Drew Bryson and is 3 & 0 in games played on the CHS campus.
The Lady 'Cats will be home on Thursday when Arab pays a visit.
First pitch is set for 4:30 p.m.
