GDW Analysis:
On a beautiful weekend for AHSAA spring sports to enjoy for the first time in the start of the 2026 schedule, winning was accomplished by a series of local programs.
Cullman BB:
Bearcats played their 1st game at Bill Shelton Field Saturday, defeated Madison Academy 8 to 1.
That gave the Bearcats a 3 & 0 record heading into the 2nd game of their doubleheader on campus vs. Athens High School.
Cullman SB:
Cullman made a good showing in the Gardendale Invitational. The Lady 'Cats went 3 & 0 in their round robin schedule then got 2 more wins from tournament play before they fell in the semifinals to Gardendale at Bill Noble Park.
Drew Bryson has the squad at 10 & 1 in his first season with Cullman softball.
Fairview BB:
After seeing their 4 game winning streak get stopped by a 7 to 5 loss to West Morgan Saturday, the Aggies came back later in the day at Mark Moore Field and claimed a 2 to 1 pitchers' duel over the Moody Blue Devils.
The Aggies are 5 & 3 following the weekend split.
Vinemont BB:
Playing at Mike Cupp Field Saturday, Vinemont split a twinbill with a victory in the opener vs. Southeastern then fell in a close battle against Elkmont.
The Eagles have 1 victory in their first 4 games of 2026 play.
Holly Pond BB:
Broncos prevailed against Blount County rival Susan Moore on Saturday at Chunk Yeager Field by the final of 7 to 5.
The Broncos are 1 & 1 with the new season just getting started.
Cold Springs BB:
The Eagles were to play county rivals Hanceville and West Point Saturday from Donald Freeman Field.
Cold Springs entered the weekend 1 & 0 after the Eagles opened the new season February 24 in romping over Locust Fork 20 to 0.
Good Hope BB:
Raiders were edged by the Plainview Bears 7 to 6 in a game Saturday in Rainsville.
Good Hope fell to 0 & 2 on the new season.
Cullman SC:
Bearcats and the Springville Tigers played to a 2 to 2 tie Saturday from Joe Davis Stadium in Huntsville.
Bearcats are currently 6/0/3 after the draw at the former home of Southern League BB team the Huntsville Stars.
