GDW Analysis:
HANCEVILLE: According to research by Gameday Weekly, Carbon Hill Bulldogs had the best win/loss record of all participants into the 2025 AHSAA Northwest Regional.
Twenty five wins out of 29 games with a winning clip of .862.
That was impressive, but not really to the Rogers Pirates.
Unofficially, the Pirates were 13 & 10 and had pulled off a sub regional upset in winning at Area 11 champion Locust Fork last Saturday.
They would score a 37 to 36 upset in breaking a tie with less than a second remaining in regulation play.
Both put on an entertaining game from Tom Drake Coliseum.
Carbon Hill nailed a three from halfcourt as time ran out in the first to take a 14 to 13 lead.
It was 22 to 22 at halftime and 32 to 30 for Carbon Hill heading to a dramatic 4th stanza.
Carbon Hill lost possession in the final seconds and was charged with a foul as time ran out. They were already over the foul limit, giving Rogers the chance to finish off a great day in Cullman County.
Will Robinson was hot for Rogers, 6 of 8 FGs and led the Pirates with 16 points.
He was the only double digit scorer on either side.
Robinson showed a good touch from the line too, hitting 4 of 5.
Jase Prince was the leader on the offensive side for Carbon Hill, 9 points on 4 of 8 shooting.
