GDW Analysis:
BIRMINGHAM: West Point Warriors shot into the lead of the AHSAA 5A golf tournament Monday at Oxmoor Valley and held that position when it concluded Tuesday.
With Bailey Sutter carding a first round 64 and his brother Rawlin right behind with a 69, they gave the Warriors the momentum to build a 13 stroke lead over 2nd place Bayside Academy after Monday's round.
TB Pendley, Kade Vincent and Brooks Wilkins settled in to be contributors too.
Bailey's opening round was 8 under par while Rawlin shot 3 under in battling unpleasant weather for a state championship.
The Warriors managed to complete the 1st round without major issues from inclement weather that surrounded Oxmoor Valley throughout the two days of play.
West Point's team score after Round 1 was at 293 with Bayside 2nd at 306, Guntersville a shot off the pace in 3rd position at 307.
