AHSAA All Star Cross Country - Team North tops the South:
Cold Springs' Howell coaches North team to victory:

MONTGOMERY: Casey Howell of Cold Springs continues to endure winning in the role of coaching cross country.
Winning consecutive AHSAA championships with the 2A program in Southwest Cullman County, Howell was given a chance to blend his leadership with good runners in the AHSAA All Star event Tuesday morning from Gateway Park.
The North put 7 runners in the Top 10 with a pair of them representing Cold Springs.
Senior to be Sage Nelson was 7th with a time of 16:23.43. His running mate, Drew Dykes came in 9th at 16:53.66.
The winner for the North was John Shoemaker from Oak Mountain. He took the title by a winning performance of 15:39.27.
James Clemens' runner Luke Alverson earned 2nd place for the North, finishing at 15:50.83.
Leading the South runners was William Porr of McGill Toolen. Porr ended 3rd in a time of 15:56.28.
Girls:
North ran away with the team championship as they had the top three runners.
The champion for the North is Emma Brooke Levering of Homewood. The senior concluded the course on top at 18:41.40.
In 2nd was Mary Grace Parker from Briarwood Christian at 19:13.14.
Taking 3rd for the North was Maddyn Conn from White Plains of Anniston. Her time was 19:16.10.
Local runner, Hayla Watson of state champion Cold Springs turned in a time of 23:15.20.
Cold Springs has become a well known name to the sport of cross country. They have earned recognition in the all star event.
Last year, outstanding performer Ethan Edgeworth led the North to victory and grabbed MVP honors.
The AHSAA sees how hard this school works in this sport that been a blessing to them for a long time.
Howell will remain in Montgomery to be honored for leading Cold Springs to 4 state championships in the past athletic year.
Cold Springs won both divisions in cross country, the Eagles took the indoor title and the outdoor championship. The outdoor crown was claimed at Oliver Woodard Stadium on the campus of Cullman High School in early May.
