Choas summer basketball league provides fun for youngsters:

Summer league held for three weeks from Bearcat Arena:

GDW Analysis:
Cullman High School held a "Choas Summer Basketball League" for three weeks from Bearcat Arena.
The league was for kids in the 3rd grade through the 6th grade.
The three week schedule featured a round of assignments on the nights of June 25 & 27, July 9 & 11 and July 16 & 18.
Gameday Weekly learned of this organization and was on hand on the final evening of the schedule to see kids from the Cullman area enjoy the competition from a well kept high school facility.
The kids were getting coaching tips from Cullman Middle School head coach Allen Green and assistant Arden Crane.
Crane was a member of the school's first ever state championship team in the 2021/22 season.
The games in each division consisted of 18 minute halves with a running clock. Officials were used to make sure the youngsters understood the rules.
Coach Green and Crane also emphasized sportsmanship, such as helping teammates after falling down making plays.
Cullman coach Stu Stuedeman was there to see future Bearcats in the making.
GDW took notice of very good ball handling skills in the 5th and 6th grade games.
Several players showed smoothness on dribbling the ball downcourt, changing their direction and making moves to take them to the basket.

This was good for Stuedeman. Two days earlier, he watched his senior Jake Dorough lend a helping hand to the North All Stars in a 97 to 85 come from behind victory at the AHSAA All Star Game in Montgomery.
On this day, it became known that Dorough had committed to play at the University of Montevallo after he graduated from CHS next spring.
Next up for Stuedeman and his squad is hosting a camp on August 24 from 10:00 to 12:00 at Bearcat Arena.
Admission is free with lunch to be provided to the campers at 12:30 p.m. For more information, call 256 734 9157.
