Coach Drew Adams knows how to have his team ready to spoil festivities from Holly Pond's Dwayne Adams Court/Felton Easterwood Gymnasium.
Last year in coaching Good Hope hoops, Adams watched the Raiders win on the night the school named the floor after his late grandfather, coach Dwayne Adams.
Now coaching the Cold Springs Eagles, Adams was part of spoiling the home opener for Holly Pond in leading from the beginning.
The Eagles went on a 12 to 0 run in the first to turn a close game into a 14 to 5 first period advantage.
Ayden Black, his PG, carried the Eagles with 8 points in the first, scoring twice from downtown.
Holly Pond did manage to make a run and close to 20 to 15 in the 2nd.
But a surge by Cold Springs right before time expired included a 3 by Cash Dickerson and the Eagles moved the margin to double figures at 27 to 16.
Trying to get the Broncos back in the game was the scoring from guard Asher Thrift.
Thrift finished with 21, scoring 13 in the 2nd half.
A FG pulled the Broncos to 35 to 30 early in the final period.
Two baskets from Dickerson and two by forward Breydon Hallman during the 4th cooled off Holly Pond's momentum.
Black would lead the Eagles with 14, Hallman scored 12, Tyson Kilgo 8 and Dickerson 7.
For Tim Willoughby's Broncos. Thrift's 21 was the highlight with 7 being scored by center Cade Allbright.
