GDW Analysis:
ATLANTA: Those who create the schedule for SEC Football Media Days, understood to lead off the Wednesday schedule as the event is halfway completed, put the Alabama Crimson Tide into the spotlight.
Alabama is out to continue success on the gridiron with 9 wins in Kalen DeBoer's debut on the capstone.
Losses at Vanderbilt & Tennessee last October, a shocking letdown in November at Oklahoma and a loss in their bowl game to Michigan is the scars DeBoer is still overcoming with the 2nd season to begin in a challenging environment on August 30 in Tallahassee with Florida State.
DeBoer is very aware the Tide has to be much better away from Bryant Denny Stadium than 2024.
The Florida State game on opening weekend means plenty for the Tide to prove they can be ready to go to a difficult place for the opposition and the case as well of this being a signature game for the SEC with the ACC in several matchups for both conferences to endure August 30 & 31.
Bama also has to deal with challenging trips to Georgia September 27, Missouri October 11, South Carolina October 25 and at Auburn November 25.
Last year, seven teams came to T-town and were unable to be a winner.
South Carolina gave it a great shot but fell on October 12 by the score of 27 to 25.
Georgia was also a team that pushed the Tide to the limit. Bama managed to prevail in a prime time game on the capstone 41 to 34.
Wisconsin visits September 13 for a huge encounter of SEC vs. the Big Ten.
Vandy arrives October 4 with Tennessee on its way for the 3rd Saturday of October, playing on the 18th.
After off the first Saturday in November, the Tide deals with LSU the 8th and Oklahoma the 15th.
DeBoer gave the media details that Ty Simpson is first on the depth chart at quarterback in looking to replace Jalen Milroe.
He also spoke about new offensive coordinators in Ryan Grubb and Nick Sheridan.
The 9 wins are the least by an Alabama team since Nick Saban's first year of 2007 when the official record was 2 & 6 due to violation of recruiting rules by the NCAA.
Saban directed the Tide to 49 victories in his final 55 games as their coach from 2020 to 2023.
The Tide won four consecutive SEC Western Division titles.
