GDW Analysis:
WEST POINT: In an important game to determine the top seed for next week's Cullman County tournament, the Fairview Aggies put together a good outing Wednesday at the plate and on the mound for a 10 to 2 victory over the West Point Warriors.
Both were undefeated in the county entering this showdown.
Through information provided to Gameday Weekly, Fairview now has a 4 & 0 record vs, the county. They have not played Hanceville and Holly Pond through multiple sources with the AHSAA.
West Point fell to 4 & 1 in the standings. The Warriors have a game at Vinemont Friday, weather permitting, in order to try and lock up the 2 seed.
The county tournament is scheduled for March 21 & 22 from Good Hope High School.
Fairview would collect 4 runs in the 2nd and 3 in the 3rd to grab the lead.
The Aggies showed a good stroke with 6 doubles out of the 14 hits they would have vs. three West Point pitchers.
Fairview batted around in the 2nd as the key hit was a 2 run double by Lincoln Wright.
Camden Cullen smacked a 2 run double during the 3rd with run scoring doubles by Conner Scott in the 5th and Colton Jennings in the 7th finishing off the day with 6 RBIs on extra base hits.
Jaxon Robertson went the distance for Nick Dumas' Aggies. He allowed the Warriors a run on 2 hits through the first five innings.
The Warriors first run was scored in the 2nd on a groundout by Cooper Howard. The last run was a one double by Charlie Ashley bringing in Titan Thornton who singled and reached second by a stolen base.
Cullen had three hits in four plate appearances for the Aggies, scoring twice and delivering two runs batted in. The Aggies would have the leadoff batter reach in the 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th inning.
Robertson scattered 6 hits in a complete game outing. He walked one and struck out three, the final two batters to end the game at 6:22 p.m.
The game was played in 1 hour, 57 minutes.
