Mark Britton coached football 17 years at Cullman High School with his hard work resulting in 137 victories to be the school's all time winningest coach.
Britton has endured a new occupation.
Britton claimed victory in Place 5 of the Cullman City School board during a municipal election Tuesday.
Britton earned 67 percent of the vote, a total of 1,944 while his opponent, Amy Carter accounted for 937.
He had the widest margin of victory of the four selections for the school board.
According to an election report, Britton prevailed with 840 who cast their ballot at the Donald Green Center with 415 voting for Carter.
From the Cullman Office building, 468 selected Britton, 260 for Carter.
At the Cullman City Hall, Britton received 340 votes to 137 for Carter.
The Cullman County courthouse results had Britton at 225 to 72 for Carter. In absentees, Britton won with a margin of 71 to 53.
Britton graduated from Cullman in 1980.
He was hired at the school's football coach in 2001 and ran off a great career when he retired in 2017.
His Cullman record is 137 & 64 with 16 winning seasons.
From 2007 to 2009, Britton led the Bearcats to impressive numbers of 36 wins, 5 losses and two trips to the semifinals of the AHSAA 6A playoffs.
Britton received a tremendous honor in 2014 when he was inducted into the Cullman County Sports Hall of Fame.
The field at Cullman High School is named after Britton.
