Spring sports season starts, HV now in search of new basketball coach:

GDW Analysis:
Gameday Weekly provides other local sports aside from its coverage of the AHSAA Northwest basketball regional from Wallace State.
Cullman SB:
Under new coach Drew Bryson, Cullman SB started the 2026 season with three victories from the Corner High Invitational.
Cullman romped past Oak Grove in its opener February 19 by the score of 18 to 7.
The Lady 'Cats returned to the Jefferson County school Friday, claiming wins against Corner 10 to 5 and a 6 to 0 shutout of Good Hope.
Bryson came to Cullman after having a good career coaching baseball at West Point High School.
He led the Warriors for 7 seasons with the ball club being successful in winning a series of Cullman County championships and making several runs into the AHSAA 5A playoffs.
Hanceville BK:
Stephen Chandler submitted his resignation on February 19 ending 8 years of leading Hanceville Bulldogs' basketball.
Hanceville's success included a 23 & 8 record in his first season of 2018/19. The Bulldogs then enjoyed a good run in getting to the Class 3A Final Four with 18 wins in 31 games.

 Chandler and the Bulldogs rose to the top locally winning the Cullman County championship in 2023 from Wallace State's Tom Drake Coliseum.
The 2025/26 season recently concluded for Hanceville with 8 victories and 20 losses.
The school is now under way with the process of finding a successor to Chandler.
Good Hope SB:
The Lady Raiders played in the Corner Invitational on Friday, getting one victory in three decisions.
They started the season on February 19 at Greg Owen Field in a 10 to 1 victory vs. Cordova.
Good Hope defeated Oak Grove 7 to 4 Friday in between losses to Cullman and Corner.
Good Hope is looking to add to the success the Lady Raiders have enjoyed in recent years with Tim Tucker.
They won the 2025 Cullman County championship, the AHSAA 4A Area 13 title and qualified for the North Regional from Florence.
West Point SB:
While the Lady Warriors were involved in the Northwest basketball regional on Thursday afternoon at Wallace State, softball put the 2026 season into play that evening with wins against Brewer and Cold Springs.
West Point took down Brewer 4 to 1 from Mike Brown Field and followed it under the lights by a 6 to 0 shutout over Cold Springs.
The Lady Warriors are in their 2nd season under coach Kevin Folds.
Cullman SC:
Bearcats had a doubleheader at home Friday as the season is off to a good start with 5 wins, 0 losses and 2 ties.

 Cullman prevailed over Muscle Shoals 3 to 1 then fought to a 1 to 1 draw with Douglas out of Marshall County.

 Cullman Girls SC:
Lady Bearcats have a 5 game winning streak following a 10 to 1 rout Friday in Birmingham against Shades Valley.
The Lady 'Cats have won 8 of 9 decisions.
During the current winning streak, Cullman has outscored the opposition 34 to 1 with 4 shutout victories.
The Lady 'Cats are to host the Fairview Lady Aggies Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.
