Best female performer selected by GDW:
Reese Swidecki of Cold Springs: The 7th grader brought her skills to the AHSAA championship for the first time. She won the 1,600 meter with a personal best time of 5:28.89.

 She was part of the 4 X 800 relay group that took 2nd with a record time of 10:30.77.
Swidecki got 2nd in the 3,200 meter at 12:00.84, a personal best for the 7th grader.
Swidecki and the 4 X 400 relay won their heat with a time of 4:36.71. It was 7th overall.
The performances from Swidecki were valuable for Cold Springs to win the 2A state championship for the 2nd time in the last 3 years from Britton Field/Woodard Stadium at Cullman High School.

Best male performer selected by GDW:
Nic Fallin of Fairview: Doing well in field events in the 5A meet from Gulf Shores, Fallin was 3rd in the triple jump at 43 feet, 2.5 inches.
Fallin accomplished a personal best from the high jump with a distance of 6 feet, 7th overall.
The talent Fairview Aggie got 3rd overall in the long jump, a distance of 21 feet, 2.5 inches.
Fallin was able to earn a personal best for himself in competing in the pole vault. His distance was 13 feet, 5th in the final standings.
Fallin showed consistency down in South Alabama after he was named the MVP the month before in the Cullman County meet held at Wallace State Community College.
Fallin just finished his junior year as a track participant from the 5A program in East Cullman County.
