GDW report on the AHSAA softball playoffs:
Class 4A, Area 13 at Good Hope:
Good Hope defeated East Lawrence 8 to 3
Danville defeated West Morgan 9 to 8
Good Hope defeated Danville 13 to 5
West Morgan vs. East Lawrence (No report)
The tournament started at 12:00 p.m. Saturday due to wet grounds.
Good Hope's two victories gives the Lady Raiders 23 wins, 11 losses and a tie with a 6 game winning streak.
The tournament resumes Monday:
Class 6A, Area 13 at Jasper:
Mortimer Jordan defeated Cullman 6 to 5
Jasper defeated Mortimer Jordan 9 to 7
Cullman's season ended with a pair of losses to Mortimer Jordan.
Jasper defeated Mortimer Jordan twice to win the area championship.
Class 5A, Area 15 at Scottsboro:
Arab defeated Fairview 13 to 3
Scottsboro defeated Guntersville 16 to 0
Fairview defeated Guntersville 19 to 4
Scottsboro defeated Arab 6 to 5
Fairview remains in contention after the Lady Aggies lost their opener to Arab.
Fairview and Arab play in an elimination bracket game Monday with the winner to face Scottsboro in the championship round.
Fairview is 17 & 12 on the season.
Class 5A, Area 14 at Moulton:
Russellville defeated West Point 6 to 5
Lawrence Co defeated Russellville 4 to 0
West Point and Russellville will battle with the winner heading into the championship segment and the loser seeing the season come to an end.
West Point is 14 & 21 on the season.
Class 2A, Area 10 at Sumiton:
Cold Springs vs. Winston Co Monday 11:00
Winner to play Sumiton Christian in the winners bracket at 1:00
Class 3A, Area 12 at Locust Fork:
Holly Pond vs. JB Pennington Monday 12:00
Vinemont vs. Hanceville Monday
Locust Fork vs. HP/Penn winner Monday 4:00
The tournament will conclude with the championship on Tuesday from Locust Fork.
