Three schools began playing the sport in the year 1970:

GDW Analysis:
Football with Cullman County schools has been going on for a long time.
However, the county is behind neighboring county systems for the number of years they have been a part of the sport sanctioned by the Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA).
Cold Springs, Good Hope and Vinemont started playing in 1970.
Cold Springs and Good Hope met one another in the first time to be on the gridiron, September 3 of 1970. The game ended in a 14 to 14 tie.
Vinemont appeared as a football program for the first time two days later and defeated Douglas in its inaugural game 14 to 6.
Now the three schools will be involved in AHSAA football for 55 years when practice starts Monday.
For the Cullman County system, Hanceville is celebrating 100 years of the sport in 2025.
Fairview and Holly Pond are officially football members since 1963 and West Point started playing in 1964.
The Cullman County system is slightly behind school systems that surround the county.
Blount County schools had JB Pennington to start in 1908 with Susan Moore in 1927, Hayden 1933, Cleveland 1936, Locust Fork 1937, Appalachian 1957 and Southeastern the youngest, coming along in 2012.
For Morgan County schools, Falkville in 1924, West Morgan 1966, Brewer 1972, Danville 1976 and Priceville 2002.
The Winston County system saw Winston County born in 1920 with Meek 1924, Addison and Lynn in 1928.
Marshall County teams have Albertville that began in 1916, Arab 1922, Guntersville 1934, Boaz 1936, Douglas 1970 and Brindlee Mountain 2006.

Fifty five years is still a long time with the county having seven in the sport, spanning time in the 1970s, 1980s, 1990s, 2000s, 2010s and 2020s.
Cullman County schools are tied with Blount County and Lauderdale County schools for 2nd in North Alabama with a total of 7 participating.
The most is Dekalb County with 8 for the North part of the state. They are represented by Collinsville, Crossville, Fyffe, Geraldine, Ider, Plainview, Sylvania and Valley Head.

For its history, Hanceville has 452 victories all time.
Good Hope would be 2nd with 315 then Fairview at 306, West Point 278, Vinemont 248, Holly Pond 237 and Cold Springs 178.

Good Hope has endured eight 10 win seasons.

Hanceville has 5, Fairview 5, West Point 1, Vinemont 2, Cold Springs and Holly Pond 0.

Cold Springs, Fairview, Good Hope and Vinemont got a playoff berth in 2024 The four would combine for 30 wins in the regular season against 9 losses.

Cullman County football has made a name for itself in comparison to school systems from neighboring areas.
The tradition will continue when the season starts on August 21 as Hanceville plays at Cold Springs in the opener.
On the 22nd, Vinemont goes to Falkville, Fairview is at Fultondale, West Point visits Haleyville, Holly Pond travels to Appalachian with Good Hope in a jamboree at Pisgah.
