GDW Analysis:
Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) is ready to start its basketball postseason schedule.
The postseason is broken down to the following segments.
Area playoffs, then the sub regional, regional followed by the Final Four from Legacy Arena in Birmingham.
Seven teams covered regularly by Gameday Weekly have earned the opportunity to host an area playoff in the respective classification.
It's a case of "survive and advance" into the next phase of the format.
Winners from semifinal play in the area quality for the sub regional round. The champion from their area will host a sub regional with the runner up to travel to a designated location.

West Point girls, Cullman girls and Cold Springs' teams are in 3 team areas and will play for the area title on their campus early next week.
The semifinal winners from 4 team areas will be played Monday for girls and Tuesday for varsity.
The AHSAA has set the dates for sub regional playoffs to be on February 13 for girls and the 14th for varsity teams.
Wallace State will again be the host for the Northwest Regional that will take place from Tom Drake Coliseum February 17-24.
