SYBL has plenty of hoops for Memorial Day weekend:

GDW takes in games played at Good Hope & Cullman BK Complex:

GDW Analysis:
Summer Youth Basketball League (SYBL) hosted a "Summer Splash" during the Memorial Day holiday weekend.
A total of 11 divisions were involved in hotly contested play between Friday evening and all day Saturday into night time.
Gameday Weekly spent time watching the competition between the Cullman Basketball Complex and Good Hope High School gymnasium.
One squad that left a lasting impression on this weekend was Southern Starz Bryan, competing in the high school girls division.
The squad that included three local players, held their composure after opening pool play with a loss to the Lady Vipers in the final minutes 35 to 34.
The Starz bounced back Friday evening in jumping out on the Champions with a 30 to 11 halftime lead, enroute to a 45 to 31 triumph.
Seeded 2nd through pool play, the Starz and Champions engaged in a rematch. This one went to the wire with the Starz pulling it out 42 to 39, finishing the game on an 8 to 1 run.
For the championship, the Starz battled Primetime who was undefeated and playing with a lot of confidence.
The Starz continued to make progress on the floor. This game went back and forth as the Starz led at the break 21 to 19.
With the contest going into crunch time, the locals made their impact to carry the Starz to the championship.
Free throws from Good Hope's Lucie Adams put the Starz ahead before a FG by Primetime got the score even at 41 to 41.
With 4:45 to go, Holly Pond PG and shooter Madison Butts tallied a three and the Starz never trailed again. Two points by Butts from the line pushed the lead to 46 to 41.
Primetime was able to close to a point when the Starz made a pair from the line and time ran out on Primetime.
Fairview shooting guard Peyton DeFoor gave hard play the entire game with a three pointer serving huge momentum when the lead was swapping sides of the scoreboard on Court 1 of the CBC.
Senior to be Kylee Weems of JB Pennington and Locust Fork G Courtland Williamson provided numerous plays on both ends of the floor for the Starz.
The two victories by the Starz in championship play Saturday were by the margin of one possession, a 3 point win against the Champions from the Alexandria/Calhoun County area and the victory over Primetime that was based from West Limestone.
GDW watched senior to be for Primetime, Mary Avery McNeese three times with the senior to be from Pulaski, Tennessee being difficult to defend.
McNeese showed a good touch in jump shots from around the FT line. Her speed, agility and determination caught the attention of GDW.
Adams spent a majority of time trying to defend her. She would encounter double teams and switching defenses. McNeese was smooth and the pure leader for her team offensively.
The SYBL has coordinated a series of events from mid March and will have one next weekend with games to be played from the Cullman Basketball Complex, Supreme Courts in Guntersville and other venues to be announced.
