GDW Analysis:
VINEMONT: Four Vinemont running backs found their way to the end zone Friday evening in a 56 to 30 scoring parade over the Hanceville Bulldogs in the WKUL FM Game of the Week from Mark Smothers Stadium.
A 24 to 24 tie at halftime was erased when Vinemont tallied a TD to start the 3rd quarter and would add to it before the period ended.
Two more scores made it in the 4th quarter with the Eagles enjoying their season high in points and going 7 for 7 in two point conversions.
Stephen Robinson's Eagles have won 4 in a row, stand 6 & 1 and 3 & 1 in AHSAA 3A, Region 5.
Through the first half, Levi Estes' Bulldogs came from Hanceville and presented the Eagles a strong challenge.
Big plays for Hanceville in the 2nd was a 51 yard TD pass from Hunter Black to Ashton Hurst, a 20 yard return to the end zone on a blocked punt by Eli Akin and an 86 yard kickoff return from Marquis Leeth.
The kickoff return from Leeth came after a Vinemont score and the Bulldogs led 24 to 16 with 4:39 remaining in the half.
Vinemont took the ball and marched 64 yards as a 3 yard run by Gabriel Herrera and a 2 point from Josh Reynolds had the score deadlocked at 24 to 24.
Herrera and Reynolds would score twice on runs for the Eagles. Reynolds tallied a 20 yard late in the third that propelled the Eagles to a 40 to 24 advantage when the stanza closed out.
Leeth had Hanceville down 40 to 30 just over 2:00 in the 4th when he scored on a 14 yard run. The conversion failed.
Rush Sandlin boosted the Vinemont lead to 48 to 30 with 6:26 remaining in the 4th.
Chase Blair had the longest scoring run for the Eagles Friday evening, 33 yards to the end zone as they were trying to run out the clock.
Vinemont has scored 249 points on the season, the best in Cullman County football. The Eagles are averaging 35 points per contest.
Now the Eagles encounter a huge Region 5 game at Vinemont next Friday vs. the Gordo Green Wave.
Hanceville will be at Ray Talley Stadium to face Midfield in a regional game.
