Weekend prep hoops playday report by Gameday Weekly:

Success for several teams in making distant playday trips:

GDW Analysis:
One week of the 2025 prep basketball playday season is now in the books.
Gameday Weekly was on assignment three days last week and received reports of several teams performing well in distant assignments.
West Point:
The Warriors ventured to a playday at Ole Miss.

After not winning in three assignments they hosted June 3, the Warriors turned things around to make the visit wonderful by winning three matchups.
Mason Voce's Warriors got to tour the SJB Pavilion, the home of Ole Miss basketball and play at an auxiliary facility nearby.
Cold Springs:
New coach Drew Adams had his Eagles in a playday at the University of Alabama.
Cold Springs made the best of visiting Nate Oats' location on the capstone for a 3 & 0 record on Thursday.
The Eagles had been at West Point earlier in the week for the Adams' debut. The Eagles played hard but fell short in games to Corner 58 to 52 and Boaz 45 to 36.
Cullman:
Cullman had the longest venture of local participants. The Bearcats would go to the "Big Easy" and play in a playday series at the University of Tulane.
Following their encounters at Tulane, the Bearcats were given a chance to step in to the legendary Louisiana Superdome.
The Superdome serves as the home of the New Orleans Saints and is well known of the 1982 NCAA basketball championship game when freshman Michael Jordan helped North Carolina get by Georgetown 63 to 62.
Holly Pond Lady Broncos:
Mary Hartline finished out the first week with the Lady Broncos playing in Danville.
Gameday Weekly watched the Lady Broncos go to battle Friday morning with Priceville. Priceville claimed a 36 to 34 victory.
Hartline has added to her coaching staff with a pair of former Wallace State Lady Lions.
Jada Golden comes to Holly Pond after being an assistant the last two years at Cullman.
Ella Collum who recently graduated from Wallace State, provides the program quality for she played a good role for Wallace State to win the ACCC championship in March, her sophomore season.
Fairview Lady Aggies:
The Lady Aggies were in Danville on Friday. GDW analyzed an intense meeting with the Lady Aggies and East Lawrence.
Fairview prevailed 29 to 26, scoring late with East Lawrence in a position to go for a victory.
Fairview has experience back for Chris Nichols in his 3rd year with the squad. PG Darby Nichols, SG Whitney Quick and SG Davi Stidham were steady on the floor against East Lawrence and later in the day when they faced Madison Academy.
Vinemont Lady Eagles:
Vinemont joined Fairview and Holly Pond in representing the county at the Danville playday.
Seen by GDW, Vinemont enjoyed a good first half vs. Hatton with a 20 to 11 advantage.
The Lady Eagles earned a 38 to 28 triumph. Coach Emily Willoughby had her team to Danville a day after the Lady Eagles hooked up with Deshler and Clements at Wallace State.
Vinemont will look to continue a winning pattern, keyed by the play of PG Reagan Robinson, SG Caroline Miller and WF Vayda Yarbrough.

These three were starters on a unit that won 22 games last season and the 3A, Area 11 regular season title.
Looking ahead to the upcoming week:
Playdays will continue for varsity and girls teams in the 2nd of three weeks the AHSAA allows programs to be on the hardwood for the month of June.
The Cullman Basketball Complex will be a site for varsity play Monday and Friday. Cold Springs and Good Hope are among the participants.
Wallace State Lady Lions are having playdays Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from Tom Drake Coliseum.
Playdays to be hosted by the West Point Lady Warriors will be Monday and Thursday from Jim Boyd Gymnasium.
GDW will be at various venues all week to provide the latest on the local programs.
