GDW Analysis:
Homecoming was celebrated Friday evening with both teams taking down an opponent from AHSAA 5A, Area 15.
It was huge for West Point to bounce back after the Warriors suffered a 50 to 43 OT loss three days earlier in area play at Lawrence County.
A quick start carried the Warriors as they showed a faster tempo that Russellville could not deliver from its perspective.
Leading 28 to 10 at the half, the Warriors had a pair of 13 point scoring periods in creating a one sided victory.
Mason Voce's Warriors are 9 & 3 at home.
Now the Warriors wait to see what will happen when Lawrence Co (2 & 1 in area) plays Russellville at Moulton January 22.
A Lawrence County win would result in a coin toss to determine which would be hosting the area playoff.
A Russellville upset gives the regular season area crown to the Warriors.
A 21 game winning streak will be taken by the West Point Lady Warriors next week into the Cullman County Tournament.
On Friday, the No. 4 team in 5A finished up the Area 15 schedule with a sweep of Russellville, three days after the Lady Warriors took down Lawrence County 60 to 24.
West Point pulled away from the Golden Tigers on a 19 to 9 run in the 3rd as a 35 to 24 halftime advantage increased to 54 to 33.
While Shadix, Camryn Faulkner and Harbison accounted for 37 points in their role as starters, Patton Fell chipped in with 9 off the bench while other reserves such as Pagan and Hale put 7 together for the scorebook.
In 4 games in area play, John Welborn's Lady Warriors outscored the opposition 242 to 139, averaging 60.5 per contest and surrendering an average of 34. 7.
The margin of victory in the 4 area games for the Lady Warriors has been by a total of 25.5 points.
In the last 3 seasons, the Lady Warriors have enjoyed winning with 67 out of 80 decisions, a winning percentage of .837.
Now they seek success in the Cullman County Tournament, looking to win it for the first time since 2020.
