GDW Analysis:
Things have changed with the Good Hope basketball program entering the 2025/26 season.
Griffin Morris was originally to be the successor to Drew Adams after Adams left in the spring to become head coach at Cold Springs High School.
Gameday Weekly learned of a change when Good Hope was at the Cullman County Schools basketball media day Monday morning.
Morris has stepped down and his father Mitch has been named head coach.
Morris told GDW this as it took place on October 14 when the younger Morris informed the school of his decision that is family related.
The younger Morris and his wife Tess are celebrating the birth of a daughter back from the summer.
Mitch Morris was planning to be on the bench with his son when he accepted the offer back in the spring.
Good Hope got to be with the Morris' during playdays in the summer.
Mitch last season coached the Good Hope Middle School in leading them to a semifinal berth in the Cullman County tournament.
This will be the 3rd varsity program Mitch Morris has coached in a great career.
Morris coached at his alma mater, Holly Pond, leading the Broncos to 11 AHSAA area championships and two Final Fours from 2004 to 2021.
He then coached for a couple of years at St. Bernard Prep then decided to retire.
Good Hope Middle School got him last season and the high school moved him up to be on the varsity staff when his son was selected to replace Adams after he was at the Raider helm for 9 years.
Morris attended the CCBOE Media Day with the team being represented by Tucker Keef, Owen Armstrong and Tyler Byrd.
Morris answered questions from GDW and other members of the media in attendance.
Good Hope was scheduled to start fall practice on Monday, the first day workouts for the upcoming new season are being allowed by the AHSAA.
Morris will make his debut for the Raiders November 17 when they play the Fairview Aggies at Joe Shults Gymnasium.
