MONTGOMERY: A few changes have been witnessed by Gameday Weekly through the latest state basketball rankings.
Cold Springs Eagles remain 1st in Class 2A. The Eagles are 21 & 1 with a 17 game winning streak entering their next game, Friday at Falkville in 2A, Area 11 play.
However, Good Hope Lady Raiders dropped from 2nd to 4th after they experienced a 61 to 59 loss on January 12 at Vinemont. Plainview has the top spot in the ranking with the Deshler Lady Tigers now 2nd and Cherokee County moving up to No. 3.
Back to back losses against Calera and Jasper have the Cullman Bearcats down to 9th in the 6A poll.
The 'Cats have suffered consecutive losses for the first time on the season.
On the rise in 3A is the Vinemont Lady Eagles. Vinemont enjoyed the early part of this week by defeating Good Hope and Holly Pond on campus.
The win against Good Hope gave them the No. 2 seed in the Cullman County Tournament next week. Beating Holly Pond clinched the regular season title in AHSAA 3A, Area 11.
Vinemont is 5th in the latest rankings.
West Point Lady Warriors did not move in Class 5A. Guntersville lost for the 2nd time to Scottsboro last weekend and stayed in the No. 2 position.

Guntersville's two defeats have come to Scottsboro with the latest being by a 58 to 54 score January 09.
Scottsboro has 2 losses, but against out of state opponents from a recent holiday tournament.

Undefeated Charles Henderson from Troy is ranked ahead of West Point at No. 3 with an 18 & 0 record.

The Cold Springs Lady Eagles have been a winner in their last 5 games. Cold Springs is 9th this week in Class 2A.

Cullman Lady Bearcats are outside the Top 10 in 6A and so are their opponents who have given them consecutive losses for the first time this season.
Calera is 13 & 6, Jasper 17 & 5 with neither in the Top 10. Another stout Cullman opponent, Hartselle is on the outside looking in at 15 & 7.
GDW last weekend watched No. 2 Deshler in 4A girls come from behind and outscore No. 2 from 3A Mars Hill 76 to 66 at Decatur High School.
GDW was planning to see a ranked team from a school out of the Arley community visit Cullman Christian Thursday evening.
The Meek Lady Tigers are 13 & 3, No. 9 in 1A and 5 & 0 in Area 14.
Cullman Christian was aiming for an upset as the Lady Lions went into the game 3 & 1 in the area standings.
