GOOD HOPE: Winning in the first round of the AHSAA football playoffs has been a good item for the Good Hope Raiders in the 7 times they have qualified for the postseason in the last 8 years.
Good Hope got it done Thursday evening in coming from behind to defeat Cherokee County 28 to 26 to open the 4A North Region.
The Raiders were 0 & 2 with Cherokee County before playing the Warriors in the postseason the first time. These two shared the same region between 2022 and 2023.
Good Hope fought off a 13 to 7 halftime deficit, scoring a TD and moving ahead 14 to 13.
Cherokee County answered with a TD and would lead the Raiders 19 to 14 in the 4th quarter.
Good Hope put together a pair of scoring drives in leading 28 to 19 prior to a final TD from Cherokee County before time expired at James Shabel Stadium.
Alan Scott's Raiders have won five of seven opening round playoff games since 2018.
The Raiders now have a 9 & 2 record and will play the winner of Randolph/West Morgan in the 2nd round next Friday.
West Point eliminated:
