GDW Analysis:
ADDISON: Undefeated Addison and once beaten Cold Springs met for the Tri County junior high football championship Monday evening from AG Hicks Stadium.
Addison relied on big plays all night to claim the title by a 32 to 8 victory.
It didn't start that way for Addison. On the 2nd play of the game, the Bulldogs fumbled and Cold Springs took over at the Addison 34.
A good drive for Cold Springs went for naught when the Eagles lost the ball on a fumble and Addison took over at its 16.
On 2nd down, QB Zeke Wiggins and WR Tanner Morgan hooked up for a 81 yard scoring play, The Bulldogs led 8 to 0.
At the start of the 2nd, Addison would begin dominating the period from a 41 yard scoring run by Carson McCaleb in going up 14 to 0.
The defense then got into the scoring spree. Ben Bridges stole a pass and sprinted 30 yards for a Pick 6 score and a 20 to 0 advantage for the Bulldogs.
A Cold Springs drive carried the ball into Addison territory before the Bulldogs claimed their 3rd turnover of the half.
Morgan picked off a pass and Addison went from its 25 all the way to the Cold Springs end zone before the half closed out.
Morgan caught a 20 yarder from Wiggins. Addison led 26 to 0 at the break as the passing attack was 5 of 7 for 164 yards through halftime and 2 touchdowns.
Cold Springs once more moved the football.
However, their only series in the 3rd ended when Wiggins intercepted at the Addison 28.
The drive went into the final quarter from the Addison 44 as Wiggins and Morgan teamed up for a 19 yard scoring tally.
With 7:11 to play in the game, Addison led 32 to 0.
Cold Springs was able to put points on the scoreboard on a short run into the end zone and got a 2 point conversion at the 2:48 mark.
Addison took over and ran out the clock to complete the junior high season at 7 & 0 with Cold Springs going 5 & 2.
Addison accounted for 305 yards offense with 222 on solid passing by Wiggins.
The right hander was 8 of 11 in the title game. Morgan would catch the ball 4 times for 139 yards and 3 touchdowns.
Addison allowed Cold Springs 110 yards of offense with three turnovers leading to three scoring opportunities.
Tri county is made up of programs from Cullman, Winston and Walker counties.
