ATLANTA: Ronald Acuna Jr will be starting in right field for the National League in the MLB All Star Game July 15 from Truist Park.
MLB announced the starters Wednesday evening.
In Phase II of voting for the all stars, Acuna Jr led the NL outfielders in this category.
The rest of the starting outfield for the Nationals will be a pair of Chicago Cubs, Pete Crow Armstrong and Kyle Tucker.
Starting for the NL in the infield will be 1B Freddie Freeman of the Dodgers, 2B Ketel Martee of the Diamondbacks, SS Francisco Lindor of the Mets, 3B Manny Machado of the Padres.
Will Smith of the Dodgers got the most votes to be named the team's starting catcher.
The Dodgers' Shohel Ohtani will start as the designated hitter.
Last week, Acuna Jr announced he will take part in the Home Run Derby that will be on the 14th from the home of the Braves.
The reserves and the pitching staff for the National League and American League will be announced Sunday.
This is the 3rd time the All Star game has been held in Atlanta.
The first time was in 1972 at Atlanta/Fulton County Stadium. The NL won in 10 innings 4 to 3.
In 2000, the game was played at Turner Field as the American League prevailed in the mid summer classic.
Gameday Weekly was involved in voting for the all star starters. GDW took part in the process Tuesday.
GDW selected Acuna, plus Armstrong and Tucker as well for the NL outfield.
