Breaking news:
AUBURN: Gameday Weekly has learned through news sources Auburn University basketball coach Bruce Pearl is planning to retire.
His son Steven, who is an assistant on the Auburn staff, is listed to be his replacement.
Pearl has been directing Auburn hoops for 11 years, a total of 246 victories and 125 losses. He is the winningest coach in Auburn history.
Auburn's memorable run from last season was 32 wins out of 38 games, 15 & 3 in the SEC.
In the NCAA Tournament, the Tigers were a 1 seed and went through defeating Alabama State, Creighton, Michigan and Michigan State before dropping a contest in the Final Four to the eventual champion Florida Gators.
Since the end of the previous season, plenty of conversation directed at Pearl has him going from the bench into the political realm.

He has been considered as a strong source to be in the US Senate to replace the spot vacated by Tommy Tuberville.
In recent time, Pearl has been seen watching the AHSAA Northwest Regional basketball tournament from Wallace State Community College.
Several years ago, Pearl was a guest speaker at the Cullman County Auburn Club banquet.
This was the first time Pearl got to meet yours truly in person.
Rumor was to Pearl that some people spoke of the WKUL sports personality with the broadcaster well known to the public as "Flash."
