MONTGOMERY: Local teams continue to make wave in the latest release of the state basketball rankings.
Despite a loss to open the December schedule, the Good Hope Lady Raiders remain 2nd in Class 4A with a 9 & 2 record.
Good Hope will play Danville at home Friday in the WKUL FM Game of the Week.
The Lady Raiders on Saturday meet No. 2 Mars Hill from the 3A poll in a game at Decatur Heritage Christian Academy.
Mars Hill comes into the weekend undefeated at 9 & 0.
Vinemont Lady Eagles have shown a steady climb with a move to No. 5 in the 3A poll.
The Lady Eagles were 8th in the poll was released for the first time two weeks ago.
West Point Lady Warriors are on an 11 game winning streak and up to 4th in the 5A rankings.
West Point has a game against No.3 Deshler from the 4A poll Saturday at Decatur Heritage.
Holly Pond Lady Broncos dropped to 8th in the 3A poll and the Cold Springs are now 7th in Class 2A with both teams trying to overcome slumps entering this weekend's schedule.
At 9 & 2, the Cullman Lady Bearcats are not in the Top 10 in Class 6A.
Hartselle Lady Tigers are no longer in the Top 10 of this classification following recent losses at home to Vinemont in the Encore Classic and last Friday to Cullman.
The Cullman Bearcats come to the weekend No. 6 in the 6A poll and are 11 & 1 for the season.
Moving into the poll this week for the first time is Cold Springs. The Eagles with new coach Drew Adams is 7th in Class 2A and have won 9 of their first 10 games.
Vinemont is outside the Top 10 in the 3A poll despite 8 wins in their first 11 games for new coach James Brown and a 2 & 0 record in Area 13 play.
West Point Warriors are not in the 5A rankings, but face a very strong 1A program in the Randy Jones Classic Saturday at Jim Boyd Gymnasium.
The Warriors play the current undefeated Meek Tigers who are 6 & 0.
Meek has a 1A, Area 13 game Friday at St. Bernard then comes to West Point in being the finale of the 3rd annual event to honor the late West Point coach Randy Jones.
