Coosa Christian conquers the Cold Springs Eagles:
No. 2 team in 2A football stops Cold Springs' 4 game winning streak:

GDW Analysis:
COLD SPRINGS: Coosa Christian came to Cranford Stricklin Stadium for the 1st time Thursday, bringing a No. 2 state ranking in Class 2A and working on rebuilding their reputation that was caused by inappropriate situations last season that propelled the AHSAA to make the team forfeit 5 games, fine the school $800 for infractions with the school suspending the head coach for 1 year.
The Conquerors conquered Cold Springs 41 to 8 to go to 5 & 0 in 2A, Region 6 and winners of their last six decisions.
Cold Springs saw its impressive mark of 4 & 0 at home and a 4 game winning streak get taken away by the school from Gadsden.
The Eagles fell to 6 & 2 and 2 & 2 in the region, dropping into a tie for 3rd currently with Susan Moore.
Southeastern is 2 & 1 with a regional game vs. Cleveland (1 & 2) on Friday.
Two poor punts by Cold Springs in the first that covered 7 yards and 26 yards allowed Coosa to use a short field with 2 drives and a 14 to 0 lead after the opening quarter.
Coosa went up 20 to 0 with a 57 yard TD pass completing a 70 yard drive at 9:40 of the 2nd.
Two good drives for the Eagles wound up being costly.
The Eagles were moving the ball in the 1st from their 36 only to have a pass intercepted near the Coosa end zone that killed this possession.
A 39 yard slant pass from Ayden Black to Breydon Hallman moved the ball deep into Coosa territory. Hallman fumbled when Coosa did a strip tackle and took at its 21 yard line.
The Eagles got the ball back and would go 60 yards to the end zone in over 5:00 behind solid running from a cast of running backs.
Cason Alexander had a 21 yard run, Tyson Kilgo picked up 10 on a run and five rushes by Cooper Johnson finished the drive when Johnson scored from the 2 with 1:28 left in the half.
A 2 point conversion got the Eagles in respectable range, down at the half 20 to 8.
Field position continued to be a factor for Coosa. The Conquerors started the 3rd from their 47 and would reach the end zone on a 10 yard run.
A 2 point play extended the lead for the visitors fot 28 to 8.
Cold Springs once more showed signs of moving the pigskin downfield.
However, an interception stopped the threat at Coosa's 30. The Conquerors ran a pass play on 2nd down that went 67 yards to the end zone.
Coosa led 34 to 8 going to the final quarter.
Two drives from the Eagles during the 4th were not effective. Cold Springs gave up possession on downs at the Coosa 48. A 40 yard run for a score would send the visitors to a comfortable 41 to 8 advantage.
The last drive of the night for Brendan Voce's Eagles ended on an interception near the Coosa 5 yard line.
A potential pick 6 was taken off the board for the Conquerors were called for an illegal block at their 33.
Coosa went to victory formation with 1:25 to play and back home still undefeated in Region 6 play.
Cold Springs netted 180 yards in the game, just 63 in the 2nd half.
Three interceptions and a punting average of 16.5 was some of the items that the Eagles will need to fix for the rest of the season, Cold Springs is on the road.
The Eagles play at Southeastern next Friday and head to Burl Vest Stadium October 24 for a regional game with Falkville.
