Cullman Bearcat in the spotlight

Cullman Bearcat in the Spotlight this week

Shortly after completing her graduation from Cullman High School in late May, the talented Haley Shannon was bestowed with the honor of being a 1st team Class 6A all-state outfielder by the Alabama Sportswriters Association. Her exceptional performance on the field earned her a spot as this week's spotlight performer by WKUL FM and Gamedayweekly.com. It was no surprise that she was named the GDW player of the year in 2023, given her remarkable skills and talent.

During the postseason, when Cullman was being broadcasted on WKUL FM and covered by GDW, Shannon proved to be a valuable asset to the team. Her impressive batting average of .437 in 6 games, where she went 7 for 16 with 2 runs, 2 RBIs, and 2 stolen bases, left everyone awestruck. In two games at the AHSAA North Regional, Shannon was 4 for 6 from her leadoff position in the batting order, showcasing her exceptional skills and making her a force to be reckoned with.

Shannon's prowess on the field is evident from the fact that she has collected more than 200 hits in her prep career. Her exceptional high school career  has earned her a spot at the University of West Alabama, where she will now play in the Gulf South Conference for the Lady Tigers in NCAA Division II. It is a testament to her hard work and dedication that she has been able to achieve so much in her career and continues to inspire young athletes to follow in her footsteps.
