In a rarity, Cullman Bearcats followed the task of the Lady Bearcats by shutting out Carbon Hill in the opening 8:00 of play Thursday evening,
Brooks Loftin, Sam Dorough and Max Brooks each netted six points in the first period for a large advantage.
The game at this time would have been much larger if Cullman had not missed 9 FTs in the opening period.
Nine shots were scored by Stu Stuedean's squad during the 2nd, three from long range and the 'Cats left for the locker room in a comfortable lead of 45 to 9.
Cullman's scoring went slightly lower in the 2nd half, 22 points in getting 11 during the 3rd and 4th period.
Dorough finished with 14, Loftin scored 12, Brooks 10, Lawson Fletcher and Warren Pitts 7 apiece.
After shooting 6 of 15 from the line in the 1st, Cullman missed only 2 FTs the rest of the game. They went to the stripe 3 times in the final half, twice in the 4th period.
The bright spot for Carbon Hill was scoring 10 points in 4 FGs, 2 treys in the final 8:00.
Cullman's chaotic defense yielded the Bulldogs 7 FGs through 24:00 of play.
