FAIRVIEW: A good first half of football by the Fairview Aggies became very dominant in the 2nd half Friday during their homecoming with the Lawrence County Red Devils.
Fairview led 20 to 0 at halftime. The Aggies blew the game open with 300 yards total offense in the final half, five scores and a 55 to 6 victory to stay undefeated in 5A, Region 7 at 3 & 0 and 5 & 0 for the season.
This was a historic night for coach George Redding. Redding is tied with Mark Smothers in all time wins in county football at 132.
Redding is in his 19th year season at Fairview.
The Aggies have gone 62 & 14 with Redding since 2019. They have won their last 15 regular season games and 9 consecutive in regional play.
Fairview led 13 to 0 following the opening period on a TD run by Connor Scott and a score from Jace Stephens.
In the 2nd, the Aggies tallied another score when Kolt Redding hit Stephens for 25 yards and added the conversion for a 20 t0 0 lead.
Fairview had 94 yards on the ground and 103 by the air through the first half with 7 first downs.
Jake Harper, held to 45 yards by the half, changed that in the third quarter. he ran 6 times, gained 139 yards and scored 3 times on runs of 20, 75 and 19.
The Aggies erupted for 201 yards rushing in the period and went to the 4th with a comfortable 41 to 0 lead.
Rex Chandler got a 4 yard TD run in the 4th and a scoring from James Short completed the most by the Aggies in one game this season.
Fairview would amass 497 yards offense with 349 rushing and 148 passing to go with 20 first downs.
Harper's great third period propelled him to 184 for his homecoming and three touchdowns.
The senior has entered the end zone 14 times halfway into the 2025 season.
Redding completed 10 of 14 on the night with a TD to Stephens.
The Aggies are averaging 45 points a game. Fairview has scored 48, 40, 42, 42 and 55 so far.
The Aggies have a bye week to prepare for a huge Region 7 game at home with Russellville on October 3.
