Fairview Aggies win a shootout over Russellville 35 to 28:

Great offense in the 3rd keeps the No. 3 ranked Aggies undefeated:

GDW Analysis:

 FAIRVIEW: A pair of touchdown scoring drives in the 3rd quarter would be the difference for the Fairview Aggies to outlast the Russellville Golden Tigers 35 to 28 Friday in the Gameday Weekly Game of the Week.
Fairview ran 20 plays in the period with scoring drives of 62 and 57 yards to snap a 14 to 14 tie after the first half.
The Aggies netted 123 yards of offense in the process with Russellville held to 8 yards on four snaps and 0 first downs.
Ball control offense by the Aggies allowed them to go up by two touchdowns and hang on to stay undefeated overall at 6 & 0 and 4 & 0 in AHSAA 5A, Region 7.
Fairview is currently 3rd in the 5A poll and has won 13 consecutive regular season games at Dafford Smith Stadium.

 Russellville got a 7 to 0 lead when QB Robert Goodwin hit Daniel Aycock for 56 yards on the first series of the game.
Fairview's initial possession resulted in a march of 63 yards as the Aggies went with an option pass of 43 yards from Rex Chandler to Easton Batz on a fourth down snap.
It was 7 to 7 when the game entered the 2nd quarter.
An 80 yard drive by the Aggies ended when Jace Stephens scored from the 3 and Kolt Redding kicked the extra point.
Russellville then answered by an 80 yard series with Goodwin hurling a scoring pass that covered 28 yards.
By halftime, Goodwin had shredded the Fairview secondary with 293 yards passing, two touchdowns. The Golden Tigers gained 300 yards of offense by intermission.
Fairview accounted for 166 yards offense as the half ended. Jake Harper had ran for 60 yards with the Aggies rushing for 82 and passing for 84.
The go ahead score for the Aggies to start the 3rd would be 62 yards in 13 plays and 6:28 of the clock.
Harper worked his way into the end zone from the three and the Aggies led 21 to 14.
The Aggies forced the Golden Tigers to punt and would extend their advantage to 28 to 14 on a 10 yard run to the end zone by Harper.
Harper had 107 yards on the ground going to the final stanza.
Russellville would keep it close with a 77 yard drive at the start of the 4th in closing the deficit to 28 to 21. Goodwin would flip a scoring pass from 7 yards out.
Good field position was the key on the next Fairview drive.
From midfield, the Aggies needed three plays to move the lead back to two touchdowns as Harper was loose around the right end for 42 yards. Redding's conversion made it 35 to 21 with 4:22 remaining.
The visitors relied on Goodwin's fourth scoring toss of the night, this one from 20 yards and Russellville was down 35 to 28 at the 1:52 mark.
An onside kick attempt backfired with the Aggies taking over at the Russellville 39. Harper got loose for a 10 yard run to move the chains.
Redding then went into victory formation and coach George Redding walked off Dafford Smith Stadium with his 133rd victory in county football.
All of the wins have been with Fairview now in 19 seasons.
Since 2019, the Aggies have shown solid numbers in a won/loss record of 63 & 14.
Fairview finished with 350 yards of offense, 184 in the 2nd half and 18 first downs.
Harper would rush for 163 yards on the night and score 3 times in the 2nd half.
Now the Aggies will be on the road for the next three games.
Next Friday will be a trip to Priceville with Priceville 5 & 1 and 3 & 0 in the region. Priceville shut out West Point 26 to 0 Friday night.
