Cullman County's high school basketball tournament is almost upon us for the 2026 edition.
The event has found a wonderful neutral site in Tom Drake Coliseum at Wallace State CC since 1993.
This year's tournament will be played between January 17 to the 24th.
Admission: $7.00 cash ticket
Tournament host: Vinemont HS (will provide game programs)
Radio: The high school divisions will be carried live on WKUL FM (92.1).
Final Four & championship game announcers: Johnny Thornton, Rich Jesse, Steven Sutter.
Defending varsity champion: Good Hope Raiders
Defending girls' champion: Good Hope Lady Raiders

All went through their county schedule undefeated at 6 & 0.
Tournament shortened from 7 days to 5 days:
Only 5 days will be used in the 2026 county tournament, very different from the past where the event was played in 7 days.
The CCBOE voted to not play games on a Wednesday, unless necessary. That has been considered a church night with plenty of services in the middle of the week at churches throughout Cullman County.
No games on Thursday this year with Wallace State involved in playing conference games on January 22 at Tom Drake Coliseum against Southern Union.
Newcomers on the sidelines in the county tourney:
Drew Adams at Cold Springs after coaching Good Hope for 9 years.
Paige Adams at Cold Springs (G) after the team was coached by Tammy West for 33 years.
Garrett Cone the new coach at Hanceville (G).
James Brown the new coach at Vinemont.
Local teams getting statewide attention:
In the last state prep basketball poll prior to Christmas, the following were ranked in this order.
Good Hope (G) 2nd in 4A
West Point (G) 4th in 5A
Vinemont (G) 6th in 3A
Holly Pond (G) 8th in 3A
Cold Springs (G) 7th in 2A
Cold Springs 3rd in 2A.

Good Hope Lady Raiders have played the most, 3 with the team coming off an 80 to 62 victory at WSCC January 2 against Marion County in hitting a season high 20 FGs from 3 point territory.
Cold Springs has been on the Coliseum for a couple of games in recent time. The Eagles defeated Marion County 58 to 34 December 20 with it being career win No. 200 for coach Drew Adams.
The Eagles on January 2 romped over Southeastern 59 to 26 in the first game of the New Year's Classic hosted by Wallace State CC.
Special presentations:
The all county cheerleading squad will be introduced on January 20.
The all county coaches football team will be introduced on January 23.
The Bill Shelton Award for the top girls player will be presented on January 24. The Shelton award has been a part of the county tournament since 1989. The inaugural winner was Regina Bagwell Jones of West Point HS.
The Joe Shults Award for the top varsity player will be presented January 24. The Shults award has been a part of the county tournament since 1979 in honoring the legendary former Fairview coach.
The first winner was Jeff Livingston of Good Hope High School.
The Charlotte Cummings Award will be January 24. The Cummings award is a $1,000 scholarship to the top girls' player in the county. The Cummings' award became a part of the event in 2009.
The Eli Thomas Memorial Award will be January 24. The Thomas award has been presented since 2010 to honor a former standout player from Hanceville High School.
