Flash Thoughts; Situations do happen in a football game:
Various situations in a series of big regional games from October 17:

Flash Thoughts:
Situations for sure can dictate the outcome of a football game.
That was the case for several local prep games on the night of October 17, the 9th week of the regular season schedule.
Those who encountered certain situations will reflect on how it propels them as plenty of important regional games will be played in the upcoming week.
Vinemont:
The Eagles were caught off guard twice by onside kicks from Oakman. Both set up short field scoring drives and were huge for Oakman to end Vinemont's 6 game winning streak by a 40 to 14 final.
Oakman's first recovery came after the Wildcats scored on their first series of the night. Recovering their 2nd onside kick to start the 2nd half allowed the visitors from Walker County to build a 28 to 7 lead and Vinemont was unable to make a comeback.
Cold Springs:
In a big time battle for 2nd place in 2A, Region 6, Cold Springs got the lead on a TD and 2 point conversion in the 4th that made it 8 to 7.
Southeastern then had a drive to go into the end zone with 4:00 remaining. Cold Springs could not match it and fell to 2 & 3 in the region and 6 & 3 on the season.
Good Hope:
Good Hope gained the lead in the 2nd quarter in 4A, Region 5 with Fayette County. It was 12 to 8 for the Raiders when the half ended.
The Raiders tacked on 2 scores in the 3rd for some breathing room and held off Fayette County in a 24 to 22 victory. This took Fayette County out of 1st place with Hamilton in the regional standings and placed Good Hope ahead of the Tigers on head to head play.
Cullman:
Down 13 to 6 at the half, Cullman adjusted its gameplan and went ahead of Decatur with a TD and FG in the 3rd for a 16 to 13 score.
Three times the Bearcats scored in the final quarter enabled them to break the game open by a final of 37 to 13.
This was Cullman's last time to play at Britton Field/Woodard Stadium this season under new coach Trent Walker. Their victory did a lot of damage to Decatur trying to get the 4th seed in 6A, Region 7.
Fairview:
All the Aggies were doing Friday is to stay undefeated in a non regional matchup at Sardis.
A Sardis team that had lost 6 in a row, made their point in leading the Aggies early in the 3rd period 33 to 20.
Fairview went to work with 2 TDs in the period, added a score in the 4th and held back the Lions 41 to 39.
The Aggies have claimed 18 consecutive victories in the regular season, 8 currently during the 2025 schedule.
Upcoming situations for the following:
Cold Springs: Eagles at Falkville Friday in 2A, Region 6.
Falkville is 3 & 2, Cold Springs 2 & 3. Also in contention is Susan Moore at 2 & 3. SM has a win over Cold Springs and a loss to Falkville.
A loss and the Eagles will miss the postseason after winning 6 of their first 7 games.
Good Hope: Raiders at Dora Friday in 4A, Region 5.
The Raiders (5 & 1) seek victory in Walker County and hope Hamilton (6 & 0) can defeat Fayette County (5 & 1) on the road.
That would put Good Hope 2nd in the region for the Raiders have the tiebreaker with their win against Fayette County,
Holly Pond: Broncos at Collinsville Friday in 3A, Region 8.
Holly Pond is 4th going into this trip way up into Dekalb County. Collinsville sits in 3rd place 4 & 2 with the Broncos 3 & 3.
Whitesburg Christian and Sylvania are 2 & 4 and very much alive in their quest to play in the opening round on the weekend of November 7.
Vinemont: Eagles at Winfield Friday in 3A, Region 5.
Vinemont's loss to Oakman has the Eagles sharing the regional lead with Winfield and Gordo, all 5 & 1.
The Eagles have the head to head against Gordo and Phil Campbell (3 & 3). Oakman is 3 & 3 after their upset of Vinemont. Phil Campbell beat Oakman early in the season to claim head to head play.
Vinemont is playoff bound with plenty of questions to be answered in facing a Winfield team that is 7 & 2 overall while the Eagles are 6 & 3.
West Point: Warriors vs. Ardmore in 5A, Region 7.
Fourth place in the region will be decided Friday evening from West Point Stadium.
Both are 2 & 3 in the region. Ardmore is 5 & 3 after its 35 to 16 win over East Limestone. West Point has a 4 & 4 record from losing their regional game at Russellville 42 to 14.
