MONTGOMERY: Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) is reporting 14 games in North Alabama for Round 1 of the state football playoffs have moved their assignments to Thursday evening.
This is due to possible storms to be throughout the Tennessee Valley on Friday with arrival of bad weather to be probable after sunset.
Around the Gameday Weekly coverage area, Arab at Fairview, Cherokee Co at Good Hope, West Point at Scottsboro will go Thursday at 7:00 p.m.
The Arab vs. Fairview game will be live on 92.1 FM.
Other games on November 6 nearby will be Ragland at Addison in 1A, Randolph at West Morgan in 4A, Sulligent at Southeastern in 2A, Whitesburg Christian at Mars Hill in 3A.
The Friday schedule features Vinemont at Westbrook Christian in 3A, Buckhorn at Hartselle in 6A, Priceville at Guntersville in 5A, Falkville at Vincent in 2A, Shoals Christian at Appalachian in 1A.
GDW has seen the latest news from National Weather Service Huntsville via Twitter with damaging winds and over 50 percent of rain expected for Friday.
Moving the games to have good field conditions for these battles to be held and also for good attendance.
Except for Arab at Fairview with both schools separated by 16 miles, most of the games will have visitors traveling at least an hour or longer as they hope to have good support from their fan base.
The storms are to clear out of the area by Saturday morning. Saturday is a big day in the AHSAA for the state cross country championships to be held at Oakville Indian Mounds Park in neighboring Lawrence County.
