Fairview & West Point now to play on Thursday in FB playoffs:

HUNTSVILLE: According to the National Weather Service, wet weather with it being possible thunderstorms for Friday is changing the schedule for the AHSAA football playoffs.
Three teams covered by Gameday Weekly will now take to the field on Thursday with the current forecast for November 6 to be partly cloudy and no chance of rainfall.
The feature game for Gameday Weekly and WKUL FM is Arab at Fairview.
The first ever postseason meeting between the two will be Thursday at 7:00 p.m. from Dafford Smith Stadium and on 92.1 FM.
Cherokee County will play at Good Hope and West Point taking a trip to Scottsboro for the first round on November 6.
As of the present time, Vinemont at Westbrook Christian in 3A play is still on tap for Friday.
Arab at Fairview:
Fairview 10 & 0, 1st in 5A, Region 7
Arab 4 & 6, 4th in 5A, Region 8
First ever playoff meeting between the two schools.
Arab is 9 & 0 all time vs. Fairview. The two have not played one another since 1977.
Fairview has compiled back to back undefeated regular seasons. Arab is mired by a 3 game losing streak.
Fairview is 137 & 70 with George Redding in coaching the Aggies 19 years. Fairview is 58 & 11 since 2020.
Arab is in the postseason for the 6th consecutive year. The Knights are in their 2nd year with Kyle Routon as their coach. Arab is 10 & 11 the last two seasons.
The winner of Arab-Fairview will play the winner of Jacksonville vs. Ramsay in the 2nd round on the weekend of November 14.
West Point at Scottsboro:
West Point 5 & 5, 4th in 5A, Region 7
Scottsboro 6 & 4, 1st in 5A, Region 8.
West Point and Scottsboro are playing each other for the first time.
Scottsboro has qualified for the postseason for the 4th consecutive year.
West Point gets into the playoffs in the 2nd season under Kevin McCravy.
The Warriors have improved from 2 & 8 last season to 5 & 5 and went 3 & 3 vs. regional foes, getting wins over Lawrence County, East Limestone and Ardmore.
The winner of West Point-Scottsboro will play the winner of St. Clair County vs. Carver Birmingham in the 2nd round the weekend of November 14.
