Good Hope Lady Raiders have restored their winning ways after a rare home loss Monday to Priceville. Lady Raiders defeated Holly Pond at Good Hope Gymnasium 55 to 41 to go 8 & 2 on the season.
Lady Raiders are 2 & 0 in county games, sharing the lead with West Point.
Good Hope entered December as the No. 2 girls team in the 4A state poll.
First loss for Cullman:
HARTSELLE: Hartselle Tigers broke out of a slump Friday in upsetting the Cullman Bearcats 57 to 50 at Hartselle Gymnasium.
Hartselle had lost two tough games in a row to Corner and Hayden before they went to work and slowed down the Cullman attack mode.
The Bearcats fall to 10 & 1 on the season.
On top in the county standings:
COLD SPRINGS: Cold Springs is looking good in its first season with new coach Drew Adams.
The Eagles claimed a 58 to 43 victory Friday on the home floor vs. the West Point Warriors.
Cold Springs has won 8 of 9 games with Adams and stand atop the Cullman County standings at 4 & 0.
West Point fell to 5 & 4 and is 2 & 2 in the county.
Current longest winning streak in girls hoops:
COLD SPRINGS: West Point Lady Warriors have produced 10 consecutive victories after they opened the season with a loss to Ider in a game at Snead State November 8.
West Point was superior Friday at Cold Springs 68 to 43. The Lady Warriors are 4 & 0 in county games and went 3 & 0 this week with victories over Vinemont, East Lawrence and Cold Springs.
John Welborn's Lady Warriors are the first to reach double digit victories in the current season.
Lady Bearcats get the best of their rival:
HARTSELLE: Tammy West led the Cullman Lady Bearcats into arch rival Hartselle Friday evening, getting the best of the Lady Tigers by the final of 56 to 46.
Cullman is 9 & 1 with West in her first season. They have won back to back games this week after their undefeated season came to a slight pause on Thanksgiving Eve in a 73 to 57 loss to Hewitt Trussville in the Encore Classic at Hartselle.
Knowing how to win on the road:
GOOD HOPE: Holly Pond Broncos have found a way of getting it done with two victories in county games this season on the road.
Holly Pond beat Good Hope 46 to 37 Friday evening at Good Hope Gymnasium. The Broncos are 2 & 1 in the county standings, currently 2nd to Cold Springs.
Tim Willoughby's Broncos are now 4 & 4 for the current season.
The other county win for the Broncos was at West Point in OT 53 to 49 on November 14.
