HANCEVILLE: Game times have been set by the AHSAA for the Northwest Regional next week from Wallace State Community College.
Five local girls' teams, all from the Cullman County school system, have punched their ticket to the Sweet 16 after claiming victory in the sub regional round on February 13.
Tuesday:
2A: Cold Springs (19 & 10) vs. Decatur Heritage 6:00 p.m.
Wednesday:
3A: Holly Pond (14 & 14) vs. Mars Hill 9:00 a.m.
3A: Vinemont (22 & 10) vs. Lauderdale Co 12:00 p.m.
4A: Good Hope (26 & 6) vs. Deshler 6:00 p.m.
Thursday:
5A: West Point (27 & 1) vs. Priceville 12:00 p.m.
All games will be carried live on WKUL FM (92.1).
This is the most of teams through the Cullman County system to be in this segment of the AHSAA playoffs for some time.
Cold Springs, Good Hope, Holly Pond and West Point reached the regional in their class in 2025.
Vinemont is in the regional for the first time since 2005.
The locals are playing very good programs as Decatur Heritage is the defending regional champion in 2A, Lauderdale County in 3A.
Cold Springs is ranked 10th in the final 2A state poll, Vinemont 5th in 3A, Good Hope 4th in 4A and West Point 4th in 5A.
Cold Springs and Holly Pond reached the regional championship in 2025 in their class, taking 2nd place.
Good Hope is the defending champion from Class 4A.
The championships for each class in the NW Regional will be played on February 23 and 24 at Tom Drake Coliseum.
Wallace State has hosted the NW Regional since it became a part of the AHSAA basketball playoff structure in 1994.
Admission to the regional is $12.00 per day.
A $5.00 parking fee will also be charged once entering near the Coliseum.
