GDW presents the new regional setup for AHSAA football:

Plenty of changes will be seen on the gridiron the next two seasons:

GDW Analysis:
MONTGOMERY: Football coaches across the Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) got what they were promised on January 23, the official reclassification in their sport for the next two years.
The AHSAA decided to break up the partnership with public schools in one class and private schools to be on their own.
Gameday Weekly has a look at where the local football teams will be in regional play between the 2026 and 2027 seasons.

Flash Facts:
Each school is given the chance to play 3 non regional games.
The new regions will meet soon to set up the regional schedule for the next two years.
Some teams will have 3 regional home games in 2026, then get 4 in the 2027 season.
The projected date to kick off the 2026 season will be the weekend of August 21.

A majority of new rivalries will be created with this setup and some will continue that have been associated with one another for recent years.
Three county teams, Hanceville, Holly Pond and Vinemont raise the value of their games for they are in the same region the next two seasons.
That is the same for Good Hope with the Raiders and Fairview Aggies hooking up in 4A Region 8.

West Point is placed in 4A Region 7 and does have rival history with Lawrence Co, Priceville, Ardmore and Hamilton.
Cullman is at its lowest classification since 2013 in going form Class 6A down to Class 5A.
The Bearcats encounter regional opposition located South of the Cullman High campus.

Jasper and Mortimer Jordan headline this group for they have rivalry history with both for some time.
Local football has endured its share of playoff qualifiers from the 2020s, usually getting four to punch a ticket from regional success to be in the playoff category.
Plenty of challenges will be what each program will be facing now they are aware of where they have been classified as a public school by the AHSAA.
