GDW Analysis:
Young gathered in an offensive rebound then let a 17 foot FG fly as time ran out in OT Monday evening.
The basket was good, Good Hope showed hope from overcoming a 17 point deficit in the 4th period and snapped a 4 game losing streak.
Coach Mitch Morris has seen his Raiders fight hard all season and having to do with currently without SG Kye McSwain who is to have surgery on a wrist injury this week.
The presence of Screws in the post was a high value for the Raiders. After not scoring in the opening period, Screws had 14 of the team's 16 in the 2nd and a 14 to 3 deficit was closed to 27 to 19 at halftime.
Vinemont was able to get a couple of FGs to start the 4th and go up by the margin of 49 to 32, the largest lead of the night for the Eagles.
Screws was still a target for the Raider offense, but with support coming in the 4th on 7 points by Johnson, 6 by Sims and a 3 from Young.
It was a FG by Screws that tied the game and forced OT as the two were at 57 to 57 through 32:00 of play.
The OT was a dandy in the lead going back and forth between the two rivals. Sharpe sent Vinemont back on top with a three at 0:04 and the Eagles led 63 to 62.
Good Hope used a timeout, threw a pass deep for Screws to catch a shoot. Screws missed but there was Young to recover the ball and a long FG was nothing but net with plenty of celebrating by the Raiders right after the horn sounded.
Good Hope moved up in the seedings for the Cullman County Tournament by the victory.
The Raiders are 2 & 4 and have the tiebreaker over Vinemont who is also 2 & 4. Good Hope will be the 5 seed for the tournament with Vinemont dropping to No. 6.
James Brown's Eagles saw a 4 game winning streak end with their first loss in January.
