AUBURN: After Auburn suffered a 10 to 3 loss in SEC football Saturday evening to Kentucky, Athletic Director John Cohen announced Sunday a change is being made.
“I have informed Coach Freeze of my decision to make a change in leadership with the Auburn Football program. Coach Freeze is a man of integrity, and we are appreciative of his investment in Auburn and his relentless work over the last three years in bolstering our roster. Our expectations for Auburn Football are to annually compete for championships and the search for the next leader of Auburn Football begins immediately.”
Auburn is now 4 & 5 after the loss and dropped to 1 & 4 in the Southeastern Conference.
Freeze was 15 & 19 in three seasons with Auburn. The Tigers were 6 & 7 in 2023, 5 & 7 in 2024 and the 4 & 5 record in the current season.
His record for Auburn vs. SEC programs was 6 & 16.
Cohen reported DJ Durkin will be the interim coach for the rest of the season.
Auburn will play at Vanderbilt Saturday then host Mercer on November 22 and conclude the schedule the 29th with arch rival Alabama coming to Pat Dye Field/Jordan Hare Stadium.
