West Point loses chance at hosting area:
RUSSELLVILLE: West Point was needing a victory Tuesday at Russellville to be the host for the AHSAA 5A, Area 15 Tournament next week.
It didn't happen. Russellville defeated West Point 3 games to 2 in winning the regular season title with a sweep of West Point.
West Point was 2 & 2, sweeping Lawrence County and losing both to Russellville.
Cold Springs gets the best of Vinemont:
COLD SPRINGS: Cold Springs had lost to Vinemont in the Cullman County quarterfinal round last week in 5 games.
Cold Springs got a chance at revenge by beating Vinemont 3 to 1 Tuesday on campus.
Vinemont has been through a challenging time following the injury to setter Mabri Smith.
Smith was injured in an area match at Holly Pond September 18
Vinemont has lost 8 matches out of 13 assignments in this span.
Losing streak comes to a stop for Holly Pond:
Holly Pond dealt with a 4 game losing streak before the Lady Broncos stopped it Monday in winning a tri match at Susan Moore.
The Lady Broncos lost to Fairview in the Cullman County quarterfinal September 29 then went 0 & 3 last Saturday in the Cullman Oktoberfest at the Omniplex.
Holly Pond scored 2 to 0 victories over Susan Moore and Geraldine to restore momentum heading into the playoffs.
Highs and lows lately for Cullman volleyball:
Winning has not been on a regular routine for Cullman in 2025 as it was last year when Amy Hudson took over the squad.
The Lady Bearcats were dealing with 5 consecutive match losses when they played in the Oktoberfest Invitational last Saturday at the new Omniplex.
Cullman defeated Holly Pond 2 to 0, lost 2 to 1 to Albertville and beat East Lawrence 2 to 0.
On Monday, Cullman was back at Bearcat Arena as a match with Brewer went to 5 sets. Brewer went back to Morgan County the winner by a 15 to 13 tally in the tiebreaker.
Cullman has been able to enjoy the thrill of victory only 7 times this season out of 21 opportunities.
Good Hope is given a win via forfeit after a loss:
HUNTSVILLE: Good Hope was credited with a victory via forfeit Tuesday during a tri match at St. John Paul Catholic.
The Lady Raiders defeated Oakwood Academy after they had lost a match to St. John Paul 2 to 0.
Good Hope has produced 22 victories in the current season.
They will play host to Priceville Thursday to end the regular schedule.
