MUSCLE SHOALS: Locals gave it a strong effort in the Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) golf tournament from Robert Trent Jones Trail at the Shoals.
The event was reduced to 27 holes with only 9 able to be played Tuesday, due to the concern of stormy weather conditions.
West Point's talented brother tandem of Bailey and Rawlin Sutter, was above the rest in the 5A division.
Bailey Sutter carded a three round score of 108, shooting a 36 on Tuesday. Rawlin was 2nd to him, finishing with a 114.
Ben Shedd from Cullman did well in Class 6A. Shedd fired a 65 after Monday and scored a 35 Tuesday to get a 100 for his time on the course in Northwest. Shedd was 2nd to Jack Lowery of Homewood, the winner with a score of 99 (64, 35).
Cullman freshman Kate Cost got into a battle in 6A with Adalyn Pike of Athens and Beka Young of Pike Road.
Cost fired a 72 in the 1st round to have the lead. However, her limited round on Tuesday turned out to be a 37 that dropped her to 3rd overall at 109, a shot behind Pike and Young that scored a 108.
Brooklyn Sutter of West Point turned in the 4th lowest score in the 4A/5A category. The Cullman County champion had a 123, shooting 80 in 18 holes on Monday and 43 in the shortened round Tuesday.
Vinemont's Abby Lee would endure 10th overall in the 3A girls. Lee shot an 85 in the full 18 on Monday and had a 45 for Tuesday, a total of 130.
The Lady Bearcats would take 3rd place by scoring a 270. Pike Road had the lowest tally at 241, followed by Spanish Fort five shots behind at 246.
West Point Warriors brought home 3rd in 5A play. The Warriors tallied 27 holes of a 325 as Randolph from Huntsville won the classification by a score of 323.
