Cullman County BK Tournament preview:
Champions will be crowed Friday evening for the 2026 Cullman County High School basketball tournament.
The title games are moved a day ahead of schedule with a winter storm watch in effect for Cullman County from 6 p.m. Friday to 6 p.m. Sunday.
Tom Drake Coliseum at Wallace State Community College presents this event for the 34th consecutive year.
Good crowds will be expected to see some hotly contested high school hoops:
Girls: # 1 West Point vs. # 3 Good Hope
5:00 p.m.
West Point defeated Cold Springs 70 to 29 in the semifinal round. The Lady Warriors had a bye in quarterfinal play.
Good Hope prevailed 64 to 43 over Holly Pond in the quarterfinal game and slid by Vinemont 48 to 44 Wednesday in the semifinal round.
West Point defeated Good Hope in the regular season 56 to 52 on December 22 to get the No. 1 seed for this year's tournament.
West Point has a 22 game winning streak and is ranked 4th in the current 5A state poll.
Good Hope is 23 & 4 with the Lady Raiders No. 4 in Class 4A basketball.
Good Hope has claimed 4 consecutive county championships under coach Justin Aby.
West Point last won the county title in 2020 with current coach John Welborn.
The strength of West Point is the attack being divided between the Faulkner sisters, Jaelyn and Camryn and center Laklin Shadix. Good play by starters Kealie Harbison and Caitlee Simmons has been helpful too.
Good Hope is balanced with scoring fire from Sophie Konrad, Lexi Marshall, Lucie Adams and Ella Davis.
Ella Gossett is in her 2nd year handling the team at point guard.
Good Hope can score points from Drake Coliseum. Lady Raiders won 80 to 62 against Marion County January 2 and then shot down Holly Pond 64 to 43 in the county tournament. They made 20 treys against Marion County and 10 in the Holly Pond game.
Varsity - # 1 Cold Springs vs. # 2 West Point:
6:30 p.m.
Cold Springs won 48 to 38 in the semifinal against Holly Pond. Eagles were idle from the quarterfinals.
West Point knocked off Hanceville 68 to 47 Tuesday and came back Wednesday by eliminating Vinemont 58 to 38.
Cold Springs posted a 58 to 43 victory against West Point in regular season play December 5.
Cold Springs comes to the title game with new coach Drew Adams 22 & 2. The Eagles went from 1st in the 2A poll to 5th after they lost an area game last Friday at Falkville.
Mason Voce's Warriors stand at 18 & 7 in the current season.
Teamwork comes into play for Cold Springs. PG Ayden Black sets the group up, working it around to get others involved on the offense from Breydon Hallman and Lindan Hall on the frontline to the wing play of guards Ethan Day and Cash Dickerson.
West Point utilizes it's "Twin Towers" of Jaxson Shelton and Maddox Chapman, both towering around 6'5."
Making more contributions to the scoring in recent time for the Warriors is Nolan Franklin from the wing.
Voce recently moved Graph Byram in as a starter for his skills on outside shooting.
PG Kade Vincent is smooth as silk for directing the unit and at times, giving them scoring situations.
Adams is looking to make it a rare opportunity in winning back to back county championships with 2 different schools.
He led the Good Hope Raiders to the county title in 2019, 2020, 2022, 2024 and 2025. Adams has accomplished better than 200 victories in now his 10th season coaching in the AHSAA.
Voce is trying to bring the county title back to West Point for the 1st time since 2012.
Since become the leader of West Point hoops, Voce has seen victory 91 times against 52 losses.
They are 64 & 24 the past 3 years.
