GDW Analysis:
This will be a busy day locally with 3 girls' teams to represent the Cullman County school system in the Sweet 16.
Holly Pond is making its 3rd consecutive visit to the regional under Mary Hartline. The Lady Broncos reached the championship game in 2025, falling in the final to Lauderdale County.
Vinemont ends a drought of not playing in the regional since 2005. The Lady Eagles have a rematch with Lauderdale County at lunch time.
Lauderdale eliminated Vinemont in a closely fought battle last year in the sub regional.
A rivalry that become something of great value in the postseason continues with the latest episode of Good Hope Lady Raiders taking on Deshler.
Good Hope has won the last two encounters, claiming a 77 to 55 victory in the title game of Class 4A last year.
Elsewhere, Locust Fork's Hornets come to the semifinal round for Class 3A as the champion from Area 11 in defeating Vinemont last week in the title game and beating Oakman in the sub regional.
West Morgan is back in its 2nd year with former Cullman and Vinemont coach Bobby Meyer. The Rebels earned a return trip in winning over Tarrant in the final seconds last Saturday in the sub regional.
Seeing the regional round for the first time since 2017 is East Lawrence. The Eagles took 2nd in 4A Area 13 to West Morgan then scored a 59 to 52 triumph at Fultondale in the sub regional.
