WEST POINT: Senior day for West Point softball was successful on Thursday, two days after it was postponed due to inclement weather.
West Point dominated Cold Springs 15 to 0 in a quest to gain momentum going into the AHSAA 5A, Area 14 tournament this weekend at Lawrence County.
West Point is to face Russellville in the first round Saturday with the winner to meet Lawrence County in the 2nd round of the double elimination format.
Before the game at Mike Brown Field, seniors Cabri Blackwood, Macie Brown, Katie Beth Yovino and Kortni Baker were honored.
Each have made an impact during the 2025 season for new coach Kevin Folds.
West Point had the 2nd best record in Cullman County going into the county tournament at the start of April.
Trying to overcome an injury to pitcher Kara Jones, the seniors have fought through the challenges.
West Point got off to a quick start Thursday, leading 7 to 0 through the 2nd and not leading up.
The game was over in 4 innings by the run rule.
After the game, the seniors were on the field for the final time sharing fellowship with the regular season officially done and the postseason now coming into play.
