GDW Analysis:
ADDISON: Volleyball has been something of special nature at Addison High School ever since Pam Wilkins took the head position for the first time in 2003.
Making an impact from her first season, Addison earned 69 victories and would claim the AHSAA 1A state crown five of the next eight years.
Wilkins would celebrate two more championships before she stepped and handed the reigns to Kayla Woodard, a former Addison player herself.
This Woodard showed consistency in her role as four title trophies would go to this school approximately 25 miles West of the city of Cullman.
A change took place with another Woodard in leading the squad.
Kaydi Woodard was welcomed to the school to coach in 2020. Three straight years, three more AHSAA championships.
Addison went without the state title in 2023 and 2024 as Kaydi Woodard went on to become head coach at Vinemont.
Coming on the scene for 2025 was former player Sadie Hall.
Like Wilkins and the Woodard girls, Hall has the school's 15th state trophy with her and her team following a strong run in the postseason that just recently completed.
Addison went to the Elite Eight at the Birmingham Crossplex and never lost a set in the three rounds to go to the top of Class 1A once again.
Their final victory was a dandy in getting by rival Meek 28 to 26 on October 29 and taking the series 3 to 0.
Addison went into the playoffs with a loss to Winston County in the county championship October 11. Earlier that week, the Lady Bulldogs were defeated in a regular season to Cullman County champion West Point 3 to 1.
Hall and her squad adjusted and survived a quarterfinal battle with Faith Christian in the North Regional by 3 games to 2.
From there, no opponent scored a victory in at least one set. Addison swept the next six assignments and finish the 2025 schedule with 32 victories against 14 losses.
Gameday Weekly was at the West Point match in which Addison won the first set then West Point had a slight edge in winning the next three in their final time playing at Jim Boyd Gymnasium, 4 days after they took home the county championship.
Ava Bartlett was named the 1A state tournament MVP. The junior was a force for the team in the playoffs and was the evening being seen by GDW.
Senior Karson Wyatt displayed her skills throughout the floor while this group relied on good young personnel to create balance.
Kabri Dyson is a sophomore, Annabeth Powell a sophomore, Allieruth Powell a 7th grader, Lexi Smith an 8th grader.
Addison loses Wyatt, Mattie Johnson, Savannah Smith, Calie Garrison to graduation.
Bartlett will bring back good maturity as well as the others that played a lot for being young in regards of the grade they are in.
In the past two decades, Addison has shown that small school volleyball can see greatness with this program a public school.
A majority of higher classes in the sport have dominated for being a private school sanctioned by the AHSAA.
Addison volleyball is very much like a garden, It grows then is replaced with good material.
