Four local schools honored by AHSAA for good sportsmanship:

GH, CS, HP, St. B among 114 schools show sportsmanship in AHSAA:

  MONTGOMERY: A total of 114 schools in the Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) were recognized for good sportsmanship during the 2024/25 school year.
Locally, Good Hope, Cold Springs, Holly Pond and St. Bernard Prep displayed the characteristics the AHSAA is looking from its participants.
The four schools did not receive a fine from the AHSAA nor have any ejections in the sports schedule the three are involved in with the state association in fall, winter and spring sports.
Good Hope was one of 10 schools that got a $1,000 grant by the AHSAA as well.
The 114 schools was an increase after 106 were part of this structure from the previous year.
Other schools from nearby that made the list include Cleveland, Locust Fork, Oneonta and Hayden from Blount County, Meek, Haleyville out of Winston County, Hartselle from Morgan County.

 State championship coaches honored:

 Coaches who led teams to AHSAA state championships received their recognition by the association in an awards banquet Thursday evening.
Casey Howell of Cold Springs in leading the Eagles and Lady Eagles to the AHSAA title in cross country and the Lady Eagles in outdoor track.
Junior Lynn of West Point with the Warriors champions in Class 5A of AHSAA golf.

 The award banquets concluded the 29th edition of AHSAA All Star Sports Week held in the Capitol City.
Local athletes participated in all star competition with Charli Aris of West Point in girls golf, Paizley Whitlow of Cold Springs, Travis Barnett of Holly Pond in cross country, Reagan Robinson of Vinemont, Jaelyn Faulkner of West Point in girls basketball and Allie Krigbaum of Cullman in girls tennis.

 Gameday Weekly was in person to cover the cross country and girls basketball events.
