Valentine's Day a time for love and winning a basketball sub regional:
Four teams seek victory in the sub regional on February 14, 2026:

GDW Analysis:
Valentine's Day 2026 will be celebrated Saturday with AHSAA basketball seeking love from how teams will perform in the sub regional round of the playoffs.
Four programs covered by Gameday Weekly are part of the activity with two getting to enjoy a matchup at home and two having to perform well on the road.
All games will tip off at 6:00 p.m. The winners move on to the Northwest Regional from Wallace State CC next week.
Class 2A: Lamar Co at Cold Springs:
Cold Springs is the top team from Area 11 with Lamar Co coming from the Vernon area as 2nd in Area 10.
The Eagles defeated Falkville 60 to 49 February 10 while Lamar County was defeated by Red Bay in its championship clash.
Drew Adams' Eagles have displayed perfection from their new facility by going 13 & 0.
In their last 4 home games, the Eagles have scored 64. 64, 62 and 60 points in presenting consistency from this procedure.
The Eagles are 27 & 4 with the Bulldogs having 15 wins against 12 losses.
Class 6A: Hazel Green at Cullman:
Bearcat Arena will be active one final time this season with the stakes very high for Cullman in trying to move onward to the Northwest Regional.
By claiming a hard fought 47 to 43 victory in the 6A Area 13 championship at Jasper last Tuesday, the 'Cats brace themselves for a visit from Hazel Green.
Hazel Green's psyche is shaken after the Trojans fell in the Area 16 title game at home on Wednesday to Lee Huntsville 64 to 56.
Cullman has played well from Bearcat Arena with 11 wins out of 12 opportunities.
Stu Stuedeman's squad is 23 & 5 for the season.
Creating a chaotic situation best fits the Bearcats. Last Saturday, Cullman was running on all cylinders to send Mortimer Jordan out of the area playoffs by a final of 82 to 44.
Putting 25 on the scoreboard in the 2nd and also in the 3rd with a variety of weapons in what the 'Cats seek in trying to not let an opponent come to the CHS campus for the 2nd straight year and eliminate them in the sub regional round.
Class 3A: Vinemont at Winfield:
Momentum went through the grasp of Vinemont Tuesday from the Pinnacle as Locust Fork stole the AHSAA 3A Area 11 championship from them 59 to 39.
The first season with James Brown has been rewarding for 18 victories out of 30 decisions.
However, the Eagles have been on a roller-coaster since January 29 for posting a record of 2 & 3.
Winfield has 19 wins against 12 losses. The Pirates defeated Oakman 44 to 39 in earning the Area 10 championship and the chance to host a sub regional assignment.
The Pirates have come back in February with 3 consecutive victories after they went into a slight tailspin in late January losing 6 of their last 9 games.
Class 5A: West Point at Boaz:
A winning pattern was very much created by effort and determination with West Point winning eight in a row prior to the heartbreaking loss in triple overtime February 10 at Lawrence County 83 to 79.
That gave Lawrence County the 5A Area 15 title, sending West Point into a different environment for the first time in the current schedule.
The Warriors at 23 & 8 battle a Boaz group who is 19 & 11 overall and winners of the Area 13 title by outscoring Sardis 70 to 64 on Wednesday night.
Boaz is on a 4 game winning streak with the 70 points in the area championship the most the Pirates have tallied during this stretch.
West Point's last two losses have come to Lawrence County. After the Warriors fell to the Red Devils January 13 in Moulton, the 8 game winning streak went in production as the Cullman County title was part of the rewards.
Can Mason Voce's Warriors utilize the situation in similar fashion for the losses to Lawrence County are against the best rival for West Point outside of Cullman County.
The Warriors are in the position of everything to gain and nothing to lose on Valentine's night in Marshall County.
