Vinemont BB playoff series at home on Thursday:

Eagles welcome Randolph County to Mike Cupp Field:

VINEMONT: Champions of AHSAA Class 3A, Area 12, the Vinemont Eagles will be at home for the first round of the baseball playoffs.
Vinemont will welcome the Randolph County Tigers to Mike Cupp Field.
The series will be a doubleheader Thursday at 4:30 & 6:30 p.m.
Game 3, if needed, is to be played Friday at 4:30 p.m.
Vinemont has a 22 & 8 record, its best mark since 2012 when the Eagles compiled 26 victories out of 33 games under coach Chad Shannon.
Hunter Cornelius is the leader of Vinemont baseball. In the past 2 seasons, the Eagles have earned 40 victories against 15 defeats.
Their winning percentage in this span is .722.
Vinemont was 8 & 1 against Area 12 opposition, sweeping the season series vs. Hanceville, Holly Pond and Locust Fork.
The Eagles defeated JB Pennington 2 games to 1 that propelled them to the top of the area standings.
Vinemont has won 5 out of 8 games playing at Cupp Field.
Randolph County, the runner up from Area 9, is only 6 & 16 for the season.
But in area play, the Tigers went 5 & 3 to take the 2nd seed behind Walter Welborn.
Welborn will be at home for the 1st round, facing JB Pennington, the Area 12 runner up to Vinemont.
The playoffs are the best of a 3 game series.
Both schools agreed to start the series on Thursday in receiving approval by the AHSAA.

 The winner of Vinemont/Randolph County will face the winner of the Phil Campbell/Elkmont series in the 2nd round the weekend of May 25.
